June 7, 2018 OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the hiring of Nick Petraglia as the Director of External Relations.

Petraglia, a 2004 Miami University graduate, will work with the Miami University Alumni and athletic development teams to organize and assist alumni outreach and athletic events and support fundraising opportunities and strategy. He will also serve as Executive Director of the Blue Line Club for Miami hockey and will help in the creation of a One-Stop Shop recruiting center for all varsity Miami athletic teams.

"We are thrilled to have Nick join our administrative team," Deputy Director of Athletics Jude Killy said. "He embodies all the qualities that are important to our culture, bringing high levels of integrity, teamwork, focus, tenacity and a positive attitude to everything he does. His passion for, personal care and knowledge of Miami, along with his organizational, communication and professional skills will be tremendous assets in galvanizing alumni outreach and recruiting as we continue to Graduate Champions."

Over the previous eight years, Petraglia served as an assistant coach for the RedHawks' hockey program. During that time, he helped guide the Red & White to their first ever Mason Cup (Central Collegiate Hockey Association Tournament champions) in the 2010-11 season, a CCHA regular season title in 2012-13, a Frozen Faceoff title (National Collegiate Hockey Conference Tournament champions) in 2014-15 and four NCAA Tournament appearances. He previously served as the RedHawks' Director of Hockey Operations and as a volunteer coach.

"I am incredibly grateful to be given the opportunity to take the next step in my professional career here at Miami," Petraglia said. "I could not be more excited to bring my best effort every day to help achieve our mission of Graduating Champions. I look forward to providing the support necessary for our student-athletes to maximize their academic and athletic experiences and will strive to engage and inspire our alumni, fans and supporters to grow their pride for our great institution. To me, there is nothing more special in life than being part of something bigger than yourself, and there is no place greater to experience that than Miami University."

As a student-athlete at Miami, Petraglia posted a .902 career save percentage and a 2.21 goals-against average in his four years as a goaltender for the Red and White. In his senior season, he set career bests with a 1.94 GAA and .920 save percentage as the RedHawks qualified for the NCAA Tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo. Following the 2001-02 season, he was presented with the team's Most Improved Player Award and was a recipient of Miami's Scholar-Athlete Award in 2004.

Petraglia received his bachelor's degree in sport organization from Miami in 2004 and his master's degree in sport behavior and performance in 2007. He and his wife, Becky, reside in Oxford with their son, Rocco, and daughter, Athena.
