OXFORD, Ohio - For the second time this year, volleyball sophomore defensive specialist/outside hitter Madison Hardy has been named Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week while redshirt junior cross country runner David Eichenberger is Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 19-25.
Hardy (Louisville, Ky.) continued her strong play as the RedHawk libero in 2011 with 26 digs in two matches, a 4.33 digs per set average. She had 17 digs in a win over Kent State Friday, and followed it up with nine digs in Miami’s match against Ohio on Saturday. She had a perfect 1.000 reception average in 35 attempts during the week. Hardy currently ranks 74th in the nation with a 4.71 digs per set average.
Eichenberger (Plainfield, Ind.) led Miami to its third team title of the season Saturday at the LSU Invitational, which was Miami’s first time running at the meet. His second-place finish was a career-best finish for Eichenberger and was his first time being Miami’s top finisher this year.
