OXFORD, Ohio - After the No. 1 ranked Miami ice hockey team split an exciting weekend series with No. 12 Notre Dame at Cady Arena, Super Fan Week continues with an equally impressive slate of weekday games including an intrastate match up at Millett Hall and a nationally-televised MAC showdown at Yager Stadium.
In Tuesday night's basketball match up, the 2007 MAC Tournament Champion RedHawks host fellow NCAA Tournament qualifier Xavier University at 8 p.m. The Musketeers were picked to win the Atlantic 10 and are on the verge of a top-25 ranking after downing Southeast Missouri State on Saturday night, 90-59. Miami went 2-0 in exhibition play and will benefit from a home court advantage supplied by the RedHawk faithful.
The white-out of Miami athletic venues continues as RedHawk fans are asked to wear white to the game in support of Red and White. MU students in attendance will receive a free limited-edition 2007 MAC Tournament Championship T-shirt.
The thrilling action continues on Wednesday night as the competition moves to Yager Stadium where the MAC-East leading Miami football squad welcomes ESPN2's Lou Holtz, Mark May and Rece Davis and a national audience to Oxford as the RedHawks take on Akron. The showdown has major implications as Miami can move within one game of a MAC-East title and berth in the MAC Championship Game with a win over the Zips.
The 2007 home finale for the RedHawks will continue the week's white-out trend as Miami fans are asked to again white out the competition in front of the national television audience.
