RedHawks Secure 8-4 Come From Behind Win Against Western Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The RedHawks scored six runs in the top of the seventh for an 8-4 come-from-behind victory over Western Kentucky on Sunday afternoon. The win brings the RedHawks to 12-7 on the season and drops the Hilltoppers to 15-8.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks will face Ohio University in the first game of a three-game series on March 17 at 3 p.m. in Athens, Ohio.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the bottom of the first the Hilltoppers hit an RBI single, a sac fly, and an RBI groundout to take the 3-0 lead.
- The RedHawks cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the second on a home run by Karli Spaid that also scored Maddi Banks.
- On a groundout RBI in the bottom of the second the Hilltoppers added another run to their lead, grabbing a 4-2 lead.
- No runs were scored again until the top of the seventh when the RedHawks took the lead on a grand slam by Holly Blaska. Kate Kobayashi, Shelby Kunkel, and Allie Cummins also scored to make the score 6-4.
- Adriana Barlow then homered later in the inning to score herself and Chloe Parks, to widen the gap to 8-4, which was eventually the winning score.
NOTES:
- Brianna Pratt allowed only seven hits and struck out four to earn the win.
- Cummins went 2-for-2 at the plate and Blaska went 2-for-3.
- Cummins, Blaska, Spaid, and Barlow each had extra base hits.
UP NEXT: The RedHawks will face Ohio University in the first game of a three-game series on March 17 at 3 p.m. in Athens, Ohio.
