LAST TIME OUT
The Red & White swept their weekend series for the second-straight week, downing Northern Kentucky in three games. The first two contests were in Oxford, 2-0 and 10-2 victories. The series finale was played in Highland Heights, Ky. Miami had a 11-9 lead entering the bottom of the ninth but the Norse pushed across two runs to force extras. The RedHawks responded with a two-run top of the 10th and held on to win, extending their unbeaten streak to nine games. Now standing at 11-3 on the season, it's the program's best start since 1983, and the third-best ever.
The Flyers have had a tough go of it to start the season, sitting at 3-8 on the year thus far. Despite their record, the Flyers boast seven players hitting .300 or better, led by Brandon Smith's .349 clip. On the pitching side of things, Miami is projected to see Smith on the mound. The sophomore right-hander is 0-1 with a 5.87 ERA in 7.2 innings pitched. He has made three appearances on the hill, including one start.
SERIES WITH THE FLYERS
Following a pair of Miami victories last season, the RedHawks lead the all-time series over Dayton 102-39-1.
