OXFORD, Ohio - Action continues today in the Red and White series for the Miami Baseball team. Games one and two of the series were held Oct. 3 and Oct 4 with the White taking game one and the Red winning game two.

The White Grabs the Early Lead in Series

The White opened the series with a convincing 9-6 victory over the Red on Friday, Oct. 3 at McKie Field at Hayden Park.

Adam Eaton went 2-for-4 for the game driving in two runs and also pitched the eighth inning for the White squad, striking out two and earning the win. Brad Gschwind had a solid game one going 3-4 for the White with an RBI.  The freshmen pair of Jordan Jankowski and Shaun Valeriote each had two RBIs for the White.

Matt Erwood posted a solid start for the Red team going three innings, allowing three hits, one run and striking out three. Ryan Curl had a big day for the Red going 3-for-4 at the plate. Jordan Petraitis went 1-for-4 at the dish with two runs batted in. Zach Hatfield had the big swing of the day with a solo home run to right-center field in the seventh. Kevin Sakofs was another big bat for the Red going 3-for-4 and driving in two.

Red Team Ties Series with 5-2 Victory

For the second straight game, a three-run eighth inning proved to be the difference.  Chris Nadeau put the Red team ahead with a bases-loaded run batted in.  Kevin Sakofs gave the Red an added cushion with a two-run double off the left-center field fence.

The Red team took the early lead with a one-out RBI double by Tommy Nurre in the first.  The White team answered back in the third with back-to-back hits by Jordan Finley and Ben Eubank followed by a sacrifice bunt by Ryan Curl and a RBI fielder's choice by Adam Weisenburger

The Red team battled back, scoring a run in the fourth and having runners on first and third and no outs.  Brandon Meister came on in relief to snuff out the rally by inducing a fly ball to left caught by Ryan Brenner who then tallied an outfield assist by gunning down Nadeau trying to tag from third.

Relief pitching for both squads was excellent with both teams held hitless from the fifth until the eighth inning.  In his second straight day of work, Matt Rosinski did not give up a hit.

Matt Rosinski got the win for the Red team. Nick Kurash the loss for the white and Reece Asbury earned the save.

Action resumes this weekend in the Red and White series with games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thursday's game begins at 3:15 p.m. The scheduled starters are left-hander Matt Erwood for the visiting Red team and Chase Stewart for the home White team.
