Former Miami University men's basketball standout Kenny Hayes will be on the roster for the Cleveland Cavaliers' preseason game at Detroit tonight (Friday, Dec. 16).

Hayes was one of five free-agent training camp invitees. The Cavaliers opened training camp on Dec. 9.

"It's been a great experience," said Hayes. "I'm learning so much from the coaching staff and the other players."

According to Hayes, his agent had said that several teams had shown interest in bringing Hayes into training camp. In his last game with Maine, Hayes poured in a career-high 32 points. The following day he got a call from his agent with the news that he was invited to attend the Cavaliers' training camp.

"Just being in an NBA practice and watching film with the coaching staff and being around great players has been tremendous," remarked Hayes.

Hayes played last season and the beginning of this season with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Developmental League. He was averaging 20.3 ppg, 5.8 apg and 1.5 spg this season before heading to Cleveland for the training camp. Hayes will wear jersey #10. The game will be televised on FoxSports Ohio and begins at 7:30 p.m..
