Mark Spencer joined Miami University's football coaching staff in 2011. He will coach the RedHawk running backs.

Most recently, Spencer coached wide receivers at Ohio Dominican University, joining ODU after a two-year stint at Youngstown State, where he primarily worked with the Penguins' tight ends.

Spencer spent the 2007 season as the defensive backs coach at Iowa Wesleyan. Prior to that he was a graduate assistant coach at Bluffton in 2005. While at Bluffton he coached the running backs in 2005 and the defensive line in 2006.

He served as a video intern for the Cincinnati Bearcats in 2003 and 2004, working for head coach Mark Dantonio.

Spencer was a tailback at Ohio from 1991-94. He joined the program as a walk-on and then earned letters in 1993 and 1994. As a senior he was awarded a full scholarship.

A native of Columbus, he was the team captain at Thomas Worthington High School in 1989. After graduation he remained with the program as running backs coach in 1990 before joining the Bobcats.

Spencer earned a bachelor's degree in Sports Administration from Ohio in 1995 and received a second bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Franklin University in 1999. He picked up his master's degree in Business Administration at Bluffton in 2007.

Mark is married to the former Toya Alexander.
