OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University's football team will host Southern Illinois University (Carbondale) at Yager Stadium on Saturday, September 8, completing its 2012 schedule, Director of Athletics BRAD BATES announced today (Feb. 7).

The home game will be played between road contests at Ohio State (Sept. 1) and at Boise State (Sept. 15). The actual game time for the battle against the Salukis has not yet been set.

"We look forward to hosting Southern Illinois this fall and are excited to complete an inspiring 2012 non-conference schedule which provides our students and staff with extraordinary competitive opportunities to represent this extraordinary University," Bates said.

Head Coach Dale Lennon's Salukis compiled a 4-7 overall record in 2011 (2-6 in Missouri Valley Conference play). SIU's football team has made the playoffs eight times since becoming a FCS member in 1982. SIU made the playoffs seven-straight seasons from 2003-09, which at the time was the second longest streak in the nation behind Montana's run of 17 consecutive playoff appearances.

From now until Feb. 29, 2012, RedHawk season ticket holders, Miami football alumni, and active Red & White Club members will receive the option to buy tickets to Miami football's season opener against the Ohio State Buckeyes at the Horseshoe in Columbus. The Sept. 1 contest will mark the debut of new OSU coach Urban Meyer.

Miami's 2012 Mid-American Conference home-game slate will include contests versus Ohio, Temple, Kent State and Ball State, plus Southern Illinois on Sept. 8. The dates for all conference and non-conference home games, along with the away-game schedule, will be released once finalized by the MAC office.

As an added benefit to purchasing 2012 season tickets, RedHawk fans also will receive two free single-game parking passes to any of the lots in which individual game passes are sold on game day, as supplies are available. The opportunity to spread payment up to seven months (ending Aug. 1, 2012) through a payment plan on season tickets and parking also is available.

Those who have not completed their active membership by this time will not be allotted Ohio State tickets. Due to limited quantities and anticipated high demand, tickets for the Ohio State game are not guaranteed. Ticket orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis to those who qualify, while supplies last.

Ohio State has not released the pricing for the 2012 tickets as of yet. We anticipate having the actual price for the game ticket this spring. Due to this situation, account holders will only be charged $50 per ticket as a deposit. When the price is determined by Ohio State, the account holder will be charged the remaining cost of each ticket purchased.

The general public not meeting the status of current season ticket holders, current Red & White Club members, or Miami football alumni will have the opportunity to purchase Miami football season tickets at any point. However, access to Ohio State tickets will begin on March 1, if available. The access to purchase Ohio State tickets after February 29 is based upon ticket availability and subject to the same requirements stated above.

A limited number of Ohio State tickets will be available to current Miami University students. Students should check athletics director Brad Bates' twitter (@MiamiU_ADb2) when they return from spring break for more information about the packages.

Note: Purchasing rights for Ohio State football tickets are non-transferrable. Tickets must be ordered and paid for by the ticket holder/Red & White Club member who meets the criteria to purchase. These tickets will also be mailed to the address on the ticket holder's account. There are no exceptions. Ticket requests are not guaranteed. Due to the demand of this event, ticket requests to sit with specific people will not be guaranteed. Ticket seating locations will be based upon the Red & White Loyalty Points of the purchaser.
