OXFORD, Ohio -- As has been the case through most of the March and April practice sessions, the spotlight once again fell on Miami University's quarterbacks and a stingy defensive unit during the annual Red & White intrasquad game Friday night at Yager Stadium.
Quarterbacks Zac Dysert and Austin Boucher, who led Miami to a 10-4 record in 2010, combined to complete 25-of-36 passes for 203 yards. The defense picked off three of their passes, including one each by D.J. Brown, Pat Hinkel and Trey Payne. Brown returned his interception 49 yards.
The top wide receivers included Chris Givens (four catches for 42 yards), ANDY CRUSE (4-45), DeMarco Paine (3-29), J.J. Greenwood (3-26), Jake Wurzelbacher (2-21), Kendrick Bruton (2-12), Nick Harwell (1-8) and Jason Earle (1-5). Greenwood scored the scrimmage's only touchdown on a four-yard pass from Dysert.
RedHawk running backs were led by Tracy Woods who had nine yards on four carries. The remaining four backs could only muster nine yards on six attempts.
Placekicker Mason Krysinski successfully converted both of his field goal attempts from 39 and 37 yards.
Coach Don Treadwell's football team will spend the last three weeks of the spring semester in off-the-field conditioning.
The 2011 football schedule, which begins on September 3 at Missouri, includes six home games. Bowling Green (Sept. 24), Cincinnati (Oct. 1), Army (Oct. 8), Buffalo (Oct. 29), Akron (Nov. 3) and Western Michigan (Nov. 16) will all travel to Oxford for contests at Yager Stadium.
