After hearing your feedback through our fan surveys, the Miami University Athletics department has announced new and improved changes around Yager Stadium for the 2016 season. Fans can expect to see a renewed emphasis on customer service/usher training, updated ticket purchasing procedures, more variety and improved quality of concessions, beer sales, improvements to in-game entertainment elements and much more.
Enhancements are scheduled to take place prior to the home opener versus Eastern Illinois on Sept. 10 and season tickets remain on sale by clicking HERE or by calling the Miami Athletic Ticket Office at (513) 529-4295. A more detailed look at all of these improvements can be found below.
Customer Service Focus
Our game operations team has made some significant changes to improve our customer service in and around Yager Stadium. Miami has added greeters near ticket booths to answer any questions a fan may have. Another key improvement this year are express lanes, where fans with tickets and no bags will have more efficient stadium entry.
Miami is currently in the process of modifying its food options to provide fans more variety and to improve the quality of food at the stadium. Some of the changes include a “Swoop Special” and a new value meal of the game (entree, side item and beverage) for $9. Barbecue sandwiches, French fries, fried pickles and corn dogs are also new items included this season.
For the first time at Yager Stadium, beer will be available for purchase inside the gates for Miami football games at two locations this year. A valid ID will be required for any and all purchases.
With the addition of the Dauch Indoor Sports Center and the Gunlock Family Athletic Performance Center (currently under construction), there will be an impact on music and audio from the videoboard. Miami Athletics will utilize the 2016 season to adjust the sound based on physical modifications in and around Yager Stadium, and to address fan feedback based on volume.
Miami University Marching Band
If you are a fan of the Miami University Marching Band, these changes should have you fired up for 2016. Expect the band to play more often at Yager Stadium. While some prerecorded music will still occur, the MUMB will have a much larger presence this season.
Improved Student Section
A newly created VIP section for students will include high-top tables where students can watch college football but also hang out with their friends. More details on this unique opportunity will be communicated directly to the students on how to take advantage of this new element.
Miami Football games will be used to help highlight University strengths and the exceptional undergraduate education and experience. Nearly each home game will feature a different college or school for that contest. This will include integration into select game day elements and recognitions.
Red Zone Upgrades
Enhanced wayfinding signage has been created for the Red Zone, along with select other season ticket holder and gameday parking lots. In addition, the “Big Screen” TV/videoboard will be added for more Saturday games this year, and, Steve Baker will be broadcasting LIVE each home football Saturday with a special pre-game show from the Red Zone.
Miami’s FanFest location has moved to the southeast corner of Yager Stadium, away from the scoreboard speakers. New activities for our young fans have also been added to improve the area as well.
Swoop’s Kids Club
Swoop’s Kids Club is making a return for the 2016 season. For just $25, kids 13-and-under will receive free admission to select home games, a free t-shirt, a drawstring backpack and much more. To learn more about Swoop’s Kids Club, click HERE.
Parking and Traffic
When the season begins on September 10, all road construction in and around Oxford is expected to be complete, which will ease traffic issues around Yager Stadium. Miami has also made a commitment to improve its parking customer service with new training initiatives.
Online Ticket Purchasing
Launched back in April, Miami’s partnership with Spectra Ticketing & Fan Engagement will help improve the purchasing experience for all RedHawk fans. New features include: improved mobile ticket delivery and a more reliable online ticketing system.
