For the first time in his career, Gus Ragland has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week, helping the RedHawks to a 37-17 win over Central Michigan last Friday night. The announcement was made by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Ragland completed 13-of-21 passes for a career-high 218 yards and four touchdowns to give the RedHawks their fourth straight victory after opening the season 0-6. Ragland added 60 yards on the ground on 13 carries as Miami recorded is largest margin of victory since 2011.
Since being named starting quarterback prior to the contest versus Kent State on October 15, Ragland has completed 60-of-100 passes for 789 yards, 10 touchdowns and no interceptions, while adding 137 yards and a score on the ground. Miami has also gone 4-0 in that span.
Ragland and the RedHawks travel to face Buffalo on Saturday (Nov. 12) in a crucial MAC contest. The RedHawks are currently 4-2 in the MAC East, trailing Ohio (5-1) by one game. Contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
