MIAMI GOLFERS CONTINUE FALL SEASON AT YESTINGSMEIER INTERCOLLEGIATE: After finishing for a tie in eleventh last week at the Cardinal Intercollegiate in Louisville, Ky., Miami looks to rebound on the links this week at the Earl Yestingsmeier Intercollegiate in Muncie, Ind. Juniors Ryan Swelin (Sundre, Alberta/Sundre), Matt Thomas (Blasdell, N.Y./Orchard Park), Mike Calkin (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) and Rob Davidge (Oxford, Ohio/Culver Academy) along with freshman Connor Doherty (Woodstock, Vt./Woodstock Union) make up the RedHawk line-up for this weekend's tournament.
LAST TIME OUT: Junior Matt Thomas carded 72s in the first and third rounds, and finished in a tie for 25th place at eight-over par 224 to lead the RedHawks. Ben Smith participated in his first tournament of the year and finished three strokes behind Thomas for a tie in 50th place. Overall the RedHawks finished in a tie for eleventh place out of 19 teams competing.
WINNING RECORD: Through three tournaments this year, the RedHawks have a winning percentage above .500 against MAC foes with a 5-3 record and are hovering around a .500 record against all opponents and in District IV this year and hope to improve their record next week at the Earl Yestingsmeier Intercollegiate.
FAMILIAR FACES: Three RedHawks have been mainstays in the RedHawk lineup this fall. Juniors Ryan Swelin, Matt Thomas and Rob Davidge have played in three of the fall events and are slated for this week's stint at the Earl Yestingsmeier Intercollegiate. Swelin has led Miami in two events, while Thomas was the top RedHawk finisher in one.
BACK IN THE LINEUP: Junior Mike Calkin and freshman Connor Doherty return to the RedHawk lineup after two-week absences. Calkin and Doherty each participated in Miami's first event of the fall season at the Radrick Farms Intercollegiate.
