Larkin continued his stellar play in goal, stopping 74 of 79 shots to give Miami a chance to win both nights against Western Michigan. He turned away 30 of 32 shots in a hard fought 2-1 setback on Friday night and stood on his head at points while stopping 44 of 47 shots in Saturday's 4-3 victory. In his last 14 starts, Larkin has a 2.26 goals against average along with a .927 save percentage.
This is the second time this season and in his career that Larkin has been named Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week. He previously won it for the week of Nov. 14-20.
Moynihan led two 1-2- 3 finishes for the RedHawks in their victory over Ball State Saturday. The first was in the 200-yard freestyle, where she finished in 1:52.34. The first Cardinal to touch the wall came in almost six seconds later at 1:58.06. In the 100-yard freestyle, Moynihan clocked in at 52.53, beating the first Ball State competitor by nearly two seconds. She also placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.32), where she narrowly beat out Peighton Gilbert from Ball State by 0.02 seconds. Moynihan’s efforts earned her 27 total points for the Red & White.
This is the second time this season and in her career that Moynihan has been named Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week. She previously won it for the week of Nov. 28-Dec. 4.
The next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced on Monday, Feb. 6.
