NEW ORLEANS - One of just 73 teams nationwide and the only squad from the Mid-American Conference, the Miami University men’s track and field was tabbed a 2010 Division I All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday.
The RedHawks compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.02, which tied for 66th in the nation among all Division I men’s track and field teams. Yale recorded the highest cumulative GPA at 3.42 while the Big 12 Conference and the Ivy League each had six teams named an All-Academic Team to lead all conferences.
To qualify for the honor, a team must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
Last week, rising senior John Gausmann was named to the Men’s Division I USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for earning a cumulative GPA above 3.25 and qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds. Miami's men's cross country team was also named an All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA this past season.
