Bronx, N.Y. - With two of the top five finishers at the meet, Miami University's men's cross country team came in fourth at the 8,000-meter Iona Meet of Champions Saturday at Van Cortland Park in Bronx, N.Y. The RedHawks' team score of 108 blew away that of No. 7 Villanova (304) and No. 17 Iona (297).
Junior Brian Godsey (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) and sophomore Steve Padgett (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) led the charge for the RedHawks, finishing third (24:47.8) and fifth (24:56.8), respectively, out of a field of 283. Godsey's time was just 4.9 seconds off the pace of the winner, Dartmouth All-American Tom McArdle.
Miami was the only non-Ivy League school to place in the top five. The Big Green won the meet with 81 points, with Princeton (second place, 93 points), Cornell (third, 101) and Harvard (fifth, 118) not far behind.
