CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Placing five runners in the top 25, the Miami University men's cross country team captured the 8K All-Ohio Championship crown Friday afternoon at the Ervin R. King Cross Country Course on the campus of Cedarville University. The RedHawks have now won all three meets in 2010 that have been scored.

Senior Robbie Fisher (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) was the top RedHawk finisher, taking 12th in a personal-best time of 24.54.5. He was Miami's top finisher for the first time in his career, despite being knocked down early in the race in a field of 263 runners, but recovered to finish strong.

The next three RedHawks to cross the line all were within three seconds of each other, as the group ran as a pack throughout the race. Sophomore Jarrod Eick (Hartville, Ohio) placed 15th in a personal-best 24:57.7, redshirt freshman Matt Marol (Evanston, Ill.) finished a second later in 16th in personal-best time while senior Michael Perry (Cincinnati, Ohio) took 18th in 24:59.9. Redshirt sophomore David Eichenberger (Plainfield, Ind.) rounded out Miami's scoring five in 21st place in 25:10 while battling through a blister after leading the `Hawks early.

The RedHawks captured the title with 82 points out of 37 teams while Xavier was second with 119 points and Mid-American Conference rival Ohio was third with 123 points. Other MAC teams that competed included Toledo (eighth), Akron (10th) and Bowling Green (13th) while local rivals Dayton and Cincinnati were fourth and fifth, respectively. The Flyers' Chris Lemon won the individual title in 24:11.8 while Cincinnati's Eric Finan was the runner-up and Ohio's Ridge Robinson was the top MAC finisher in third.

Miami redshirt junior Chris Dennison (Aurora, Ohio) was the sixth RedHawk to finish, taking 28th, while redshirt freshman Blake Dircksen (Noblesville, Ind.) placed 78th as the seventh Miami harrier.

The RedHawks return to the course in two weeks at the Falcon Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 16 in Bowling Green, Ohio.
