CLEVELAND - After running a personal-best 8K time of 24:12 and finishing 21st at the Pre-National meet on Oct. 15, Miami senior Chris Swisher (Milan, Ind./Milan) was named the Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week.

Running against a 33-team field that featured 14 nationally-ranked teams, Swisher bested his previous personal-best time of 24:17, which he set at the Notre Dame Invitational in 2004. Swisher was also the top Miami finisher at Indiana State's LaVern Gibson Championship Course, marking the fourth-consecutive race he was the top finisher on the team.

In the first four races of the 2005 season, Swisher has won two individual titles while being honored as the MAC Runner of the Week on two occasions. He won the season-opening Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge on Sept. 3 and followed by winning the Miami Invitational on Sept. 10. Swisher was previously named the conference's runner of the week on Sept. 14.

In Miami's next race on Oct. 29, Swisher and the RedHawks will head to the MAC Championship seeking their first MAC title since 1998. The RedHawks were the runner-up in the conference last season with Swisher finishing fourth overall.
