OXFORD, Ohio – The RedHawk women's basketball team had its five-game win streak snapped as Buffalo topped Miami, 64-49, inside Millett Hall on Saturday. junior forward Kendall McCoy went for a game- and career-high 21 points in the defeat.

A pair of McCoy baskets quickly had Miami (15-9, 7-6 MAC) out in front, 4-0, early on. The Bulls (19-4, 10-2 MAC) would battle back and the teams found themselves knotted at nine apiece before a UB triple gave the Bulls a 12-9 lead entering the first media timeout. Both sides closed the quarter with eight points each, capped by a Lauren Dickerson buzzer-beating three-pointer, resulting in a 20-17 UB advantage after 10 minutes. Dickerson and McCoy recorded all of the Red & White’s points in the opening frame.

The Miami offense went cold in the second quarter as it scored just six points in the frame, a season low for a single period. The Bulls took advantage and were able to take a 33-23 lead into the locker room.

Two McCoy jumpers opened the scoring in the second half but UB began to create some separation and got its lead to a then-game high 14 points at 44-30. Miami worked the deficit back down to single digits in the opening moments of the fourth quarter, but the Bulls started to run away again, eventually working their margin to 20 points before the ‘Hawks captured the last five points of the game.

Miami finished the game shooting just 28.6 percent from the floor while Buffalo shot 42.4 percent.

The RedHawks are off until next Saturday when they travel to Kent State for a 4:30 p.m. tip.
