ON TAP: The RedHawks face a midweek road test at red-hot IUPUI on Wednesday. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside “The Jungle” with the game set to be streamed live on ESPN3. Fans can also hear the game on the Miami IMG Sports Network with a subscription.
LAST TIME OUT: Miami remained unbeaten at home (3-0) with a 72-47 drubbing of Canisius on Sunday. Lauren Dickerson poured in 22 points while Kendall McCoy added 16 points and nine boards to lead the effort. The Red & White shot an impressive 55 percent from both the field and three-point range. Miami also had a landslide margin on the glass, collecting 40 rebounds to the Golden Griffins’ 22. Dickerson’s 22 points marked the 18-straight game, dating back to last season, in which she has scored in double figures. On nine of those occasions, she has gone for 20 or more points. Just 39 games into her collegiate career, Dickerson is already tied for the sixth-most 20-point games in program history. with 16.
ABOUT IUPUI: The Jaguars have had a near-perfect start to their 2017-18 campaign as they sit at 6-1 on the year thus far. They have earned wins over Northern Iowa, Georgetown (Ky.), Indiana State, Wyoming, Memphis and Ohio. Their lone blemish was against UCF on Nov. 25, a 63-59 defeat. Danielle Lawrence leads the club with 18.1 points per game while Macee Williams is contributing 10.9 points and and a team-high 7.7 rebounds per game. IUPUI averages 72.1 points per game while surrendering just 55.4 per outing.
SERIES WITH THE JAGUARS: Miami and IUPUI have met just four times with the Red & White owning 3-1 all-time series lead. However, the Jags got the best of the most recent matchup, which took place inside Millett Hall on Dec. 7, 2016. Lawrence scored a game-high 22 points for IUPUI en route to a 65-53 victory over the ‘Hawks. Dickerson and Molly McDonagh led the MU charge with 16 and 10 points, respectively.
LOOKING AHEAD: The RedHawks return home for the weekend to take on Jacksonville State at 3:30 p.m. It is part of a doubleheader that will see the men’s basketball team take on Fort Wayne the game prior at 1 p.m. Both games will air live on ESPN3, while fans in attendance will get to enjoy the annual Carnival on the Concourse one hour before the men’s game and in between the two games.
