OXFORD, Ohio – The field hockey team begins its spring season this weekend when it hosts Louisville and Michigan. The RedHawks will play in three mini-games that are 50 minutes long, divided into two 25 minute halves.
During the spring most teams have to play shorthanded as they play without the seniors that played their final games last fall, but do not yet have the freshman that will be joining the team this coming fall. The tournament will get underway at 10 a.m. when the RedHawks take on Louisville. At 11:15 a.m., Miami will face Michigan. After a break to water the field, Michigan and Louisville will play each other 12:45 p.m. The event will conclude with a rematch between the RedHawks and Cardinals at 2 p.m. All games will be played at the Miami turf field and admission is free.
Miami will continue to participate in field hockey tournaments over the next three weekends. On April 4, the RedHawks will partcipate in games at Louisville at 9:40 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. The next day they will play in a 7v7 tournament at the same site with games at 10:30 a.m., Noon and 1:30 p.m.
On Saturday, April 11, Miami will travel to Northwestern to participate in several mini-games. The RedHawks are scheduled to take the field seven times that day, with games at 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The RedHawks will conclude their spring season by participating in the Ohio State tournament April 18. Game times are scheduled for 11:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
