OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University field hockey head coach Inako Puzo announced the team’s 2018 schedule on Tuesday. The RedHawks will play 19 regular season games – 13 non-conference, six in Mid-American Conference play, seven at home, 11 on the road and one in a neutral location.
The schedule includes games against five programs who finished the 2017 season ranked in the top 20 nationally. These same five programs also played in the NCAA Tournament.
Miami opens its season with a pair of home games. The RedHawks will host Saint Francis (Aug. 25) and No. 9 Delaware (Aug. 26) for opening weekend.
After hosting opening weekend, Miami begins a seven-game road stint with a three-game trip to California. The RedHawks take on Pacific first (Aug. 30), then UC Davis (Sep. 1) and California (Sep. 2) to close the trip. Miami travels to Illinois the next weekend for two games – the first at No. 8 Northwestern (Sep. 7) and then the following day on Northwestern’s field against No. 20 Boston University (Sep. 8).
Miami opens conference play at Ball State (Sep. 15) before wrapping up its first road portion of the schedule at Ohio State (Sep. 16).
The RedHawks host Kent State (Sep. 22) and Indiana (Sep. 23) before going on the road to take on Central Michigan (Sep. 28).
October begins with four road games for the RedHawks. Miami travels to Longwood (Oct. 6) and No. 6 Virginia (Oct. 7) in one trip. The RedHawks finish their road schedule with tilts at Saint Louis (Oct. 12) and Louisville (Oct. 14).
Miami hosts Appalachian State (Oct. 20), Michigan State (Oct. 21) and Ohio (Oct. 28) to wrap up the regular season schedule.
The RedHawks will host the MAC Tournament on Nov. 2-3.
