Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American Team Announced

GILBERT, Ariz. - The Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All- American Team was announced on Tuesday. Junior midfielder/forward Paula Portugal was named Second-Team All-American.

Portugal finished the 2017 season with 20 goals, 12 assists and 52 total points – all career-highs. She was named MAC Player of the Year. Portugal was also named All-MAC First Team, All-Tournament team and All-Region First Team. She led the conference in points for the second-straight season. During this season, Portugal moved into fourth place in Miami field hockey history in both goals and points. She now has 118 career points. Portugal scored both goals against No. 16 Stanford in the opening round of the NCAA tournament to help the RedHawks earn the first NCAA tournament win in program history. She was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week three times this season.
