Ashley Swinehart Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

OXFORD, Ohio - For the second time in as many seasons, Miami senior soccer forward Ashley Swinehart (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV First Team. The speech communications major carries a 4.00 GPA and was also named the MAC's Player of the Year today for the second year in a row as well.

Swinehart finished the season with 13 goals and three assists for a total of 29 points. She led the conference in shots and shots per game, was second in goals per game, points and points per game, and third in the league in goals.

Before being named to the first team last year, Swinehart made the all-district second team as a sophomore. At the national level, Swinehart was recognized as a second-team Academic All-American team and will find out whether she earns a first-team Academic All-America honor on Nov. 23.

To be eligible for the honor, athletes must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.20 and have sophomore standing. District IV includes Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Alabama and Tennessee.
