The Miami University softball team will travel to Columbus on Sunday to compete against Wright State and Kent State in the Ohio State University Breast Cancer Charity Classic.
The games will be played at noon and 2 p.m. respectively. The RedHawks wrapped up their home portion of its six game fall schedule on September 22nd defeating Eastern Kentucky, 6-2, and Northern Kentucky, 2-1.
Leading Miami statistically in the fall campaign are senior outfielder Christine Bills and sophomore right-handed pitcher Meredith Linch. Bills is hitting .500 in fall ball with two doubles, two RBI and a .750 slugging percentage. Linch has a 0.60 ERA and a 3-0 record with 18 strike outs. She has allowed one earned run in 15.0 innings pitched.
The RedHawks tallied 13 hits in their game against EKU. Sophomore Alicia Hogl went 2-for-4 and drove in a team best two runs. Sophomore Sarah Billstrom and freshman Jenna McGivney each posted two hits and one RBI. Freshman Kathryn Russette, and seniors Bills and Breanna Robinson had strong offensive games, ultimately advancing Miami over Northern Kentucky.
WRIGHT STATE RAIDERS: The Wright State Raiders have a fall record of 6-2. Miami defeated the Raiders 4-1 September 16th in Oxford.
KENT STATE FLASHES: Kent State has five seniors returning for the 2008 season. The Flashes ended the 2007 season with a 31-19 overall record.
