OXFORD, Ohio – Following a weekend away from competition, the Miami University collegiate and junior synchronized skating teams return to the ice at the Midwestern Championships this weekend. The event, which is set to take place from Friday, Jan. 27, to Saturday Jan. 28, will be held in Grand Forks, N.D., at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
The junior team, competing in the senior division, will open the action with their short program on Friday evening. On Saturday, the collegiate team will go up against squads from the University of Illinois, Michigan State, Western Michigan, University of Michigan, Adrian College and Team North Dakota. The junior team will close out the entire competition by performing their free skate program on Saturday evening.
Last year at the event, both teams finished in third place in their respective divisions. The three years prior to that, the collegiate team had taken first place while the junior team improved on a fourth-place finish in 2015.
