NORMAL, IL - Miami University's women's tennis team picked up its second straight win Saturday afternoon, downing Illinois State 4-3 at the Evergreeen Racquet Club in Normal, Ill.

Sparked by wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, Miami jumped out to an early lead by claiming what would prove to be a decisive doubles point. Remy Swain and Leda Pesatova picked up an impressive 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, while Nancy Wiegand and Victoria Pulido cruised to an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.

Miami split the six singles matches with a straight-set victory by Katrina Lomidze at No. 2 singles and a pair of hard-fought wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles. Pulido defeated the Redbirds' Emilie Sechaud at No. 4 singles, winning the first set 6-4, dropping the second set 6-2 and picking up the win with a grueling 11-9 win in the third set. Swain rallied from a set down to pick up a 6-2 win in the second set against Ashley Maxwell at No. 6 singles before claiming the match with 10-3 win in the final set.

The RedHawks, whose originally-scheduled Sunday match with Indiana State was cancelled Friday, are off until next Sunday when they travel to Cincinnati.
