Tennis Returns Home After Long Absence

OXFORD, Ohio -- After seven straight matches on the road, Miami returns home to face Louisville Saturday, starting at 2 p.m. at the Riverside Racquet Club in Hamilton. The RedHawks last played at home on Jan. 22.

Miami (3-8) nearly pulled off a double upset of ranked teams last weekend, defeating No. 65 Marshall 7-0 before falling 4-3 at No. 61 Penn State. Against the Nittany Lions, the RedHawks won the doubles point and held a 3-2 advantage, but could not get a split in the final matches at Nos. 5 and 6.

Christiana Raymond is 9-5 overall this year, including 5-2 during the spring duals season. Stephanie Danesis, who returned to the No. 1 spot last weekend, is 5-4 overall.

Louisville stands 5-5 on the season following a 6-0 victory over Toledo on Feb. 25. In fact,the Cardinals will be facing their fourth Mid-American Conference opponent today, having lost to Akron and beated Bowling Green before the Rockets. Sarah Miller is 8-2 this spring, splitting time between Nos. 4, 5 and 6, while Manuela Valasquez is 6-3, including 5-1 at No. 4.
