Four RedHawks Headed to NCAA Mideast Regional Friday-Saturday: Over the course of the season, four members of the Miami women's track and field team qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional to be held Friday and Saturday at Indiana University. Sophomore Lashonda Davis has qualified to compete in the long jump, while junior Joanna Borawski did so in the javelin, freshman Sarah Landau in the pole vault and sophomore Quekan Ibidunni in the discus.
Davis Wins Gold in 100 Meters at MAC Championships: Sophomore Lashonda Davis won the 100 meters at the Mid-American Conference Championships at Ohio University two weekends ago, following up her 60-meter gold indoors earlier this year. It was her first career individual gold at a conference meet after helping to win the 4x100 relay last year outdoors and missing the indoor conference meet due to injury. As a team, the RedHawks finished eighth at the 2005 outdoor conference meet.
Last Year's NCAA Regional: The 2004 NCAA Mideast Regional was hosted by Louisiana State University and saw four RedHawks compete in the 4x100 relay, two in the hammer throw and one each in the steeplechase, high jump, long jump and triple jump. The only returner among them is sophomore Lashonda Davis, who ran a leg of the 4x100 relay and competed in the long jump. She earned an at-large bid in the latter event and was one of two RedHawks to represent Miami at the NCAA Championships in Texas.
Meet Particulars: Two RedHawks each day are scheduled to compete at the NCAA Regional, with Sarah Landau starting things off Friday at 3 p.m. in the pole vault and Lashonda Davis following at 6:10 p.m. in the long jump. Saturday, Quekan Ibidunni goes at noon in the discus and Joanna Borawski follows at 3:10 p.m. in the javelin.
