CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced the bracket for the 2017 MAC Volleyball Tournament. For the second consecutive year, the RedHawks have earned the number one overall seed. The tournament will take place this coming Thursday through Sunday in Millett Hall.

Miami and Bowling Green shared the regular season title at 13-3. It came down to the fourth tiebreaker to determine who would be the top seed, but ultimately because the ‘Hawks defeated Ball State in their regular season meeting while the Falcons did not, it gave the tiebreaker to Miami. Both teams receive a double bye to the semifinals on Saturday.

Ball State at 11-5 is the third seed, while Ohio at 10-6 in seeded fourth. Each team receives a single bye to the second round on Saturday.

Buffalo and Western Michigan were tied at 8-8, but the Bulls will be seeded fifth and the Broncos sixth due to the head-to-head tiebreaker. There then was a large group of four teams tied at 7-9, but the head-to-head tiebreaker in that case gave the seventh seed to Central Michigan and eighth seed to Eastern Michigan.

The MAC Tournament begins with a pair of first round matches on Thursday when Buffalo faces Eastern Michigan at 4:30 p.m. It will be followed by Western Michigan vs. Central Michigan at 7 p.m. The second round on Friday starts with Ohio vs. the winner of UB and EMU at 4:30 p.m. It will be followed by Ball State vs. the winner of WMU and CMU at 7 p.m. Saturday’s semifinal matches start when Miami takes on either Ohio, UB or EMU at 4:30 p.m. The other semi will feature Bowling Green vs. Ball State, WMU or CMU at 7 p.m. The MAC Championship will take place on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 4:30 p.m. between the winners of the two semifinal matches. The winner of the 2017 MAC Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
